Family Conversations.
Since the lockdown I’ve probably had more regular conversation with my parents than I usually do. Keeping in touch and ensuring everyone is safe has become a positive by-production of this situation. The boys enjoy goofing around with the webcam.
Family Walk.
First time out in a few days. Went for a walk with Sarah and Jack at about 4.30. It was much busier than the last walk we went on. It was disconcerting how many people were around. We had to cross the road quite often to properly distance ourselves. I found the experience unsettling and not enjoyable. It made me nervous. Maybe it was because we went out later in the day? Close to “rush hour”? I don’t know.
Letter from the Prime Minister.
Why has Boris Johnson opted to spend all this money to send a letter to every household in the country? This feels like nothing more than a PR exercise to counteract the criticism the government has faced over their poor response to the COVID-19 crisis. The letter is repeating old news expressed every hour of every day; day in day out. Redundant. Late.
I hope Johnson recovers. But when this is all over, I hope the government is held to account for their mistakes and inability to respond effectively. It will surely cost many lives.
I’m going to wash my hands after reading the letter. Just in case he licked the envelope himself.
