A dear friend passed away last night. Whilst we rarely saw each other in recent years we have always kept in touch through the good times and the toughest of times too. He has rarely been far from my thoughts. Our chats on social media somehow always felt like something akin to speaking in person.
We have known each other since we were kids at junior school on Winlaton (Frank is far left and I’m third left in the first photo here). In our teens our love of gaming, science fiction and horror movies drew us together. We were both creative nerds with the urge to draw, to photograph, to create. We seemed to understand and appreciate each other well.
Frank had a fierce intelligence and a kind, kind heart. A big man in personality and in stature. I always looked up to him.
Tonight I’m going to watch a movie that we both liked in honour of him. Maybe something by John Carpenter or David Cronenberg?
